The selection is through interview. The  interview carries 25 marks.

For the Ph.D. programme in Statistics the questions will be at the level of M.Sc. in the areas: Probability theory, Statistical Inference, Sampling techniques, Stochastic Processes, Linear Models, Design & Analysis of experiments, Multivariate analysis, Linear Programming.

For joining the  Ph.D. programme  in Operations Research, a person may appear for the admission test either in Pure/Applied Mathematics or Statistics

Note that  candidates only with NET (without JRF)  MUST attend the written test.

Currently PhD programme is available in the following areas:

  • Algebraic number theory

  • Commutative Algebra

  • Complex analysis

  • Differential Geometry

  • Dynamical systems

  • Fluid mechanics

  • ODE

  • PDE

  • Harmonic analysis

  • Number theory

  • Operations Research
